Crew Testimonials

In light of recent opinions and discourse some of our crew wanted to share what it is like to work at Rusty Towers!

inally sitting down to write a statement regarding all the recent discourse surrounding RQ. This is a statement I am writing and releasing for myself. No one at RQ has pressured me to write any of the following, nor altered my words in any way.

First, I want to talk about the allegations that RQ is mistreating employees. These experiences are my own, so please do not imagine I am speaking about any other specific case or anyone else’s story. Have I ever felt mistreated by anyone at RQ, professionally or otherwise? Categorically no. Not in the slightest. Professionally, leadership has been so patient, kind, and helpful in all facets of my time there. I obviously cannot divulge specifics, but there are occasions when errors on my part have directly and seriously impacted production. I always think a decent metric of how a company treats its employees is seeing how it treats them when they make mistakes. So how was I treated? Kindly. Patiently. With understanding. Above all, professionally. No one made me feel that I was in trouble, that they were angry.

It’s heartbreaking that some people try to see the worst on the surface without understanding the depth and real people behind the shell. RQ does their best every day with what they have. Even when it’s not a lot, I have never seen a team pull together as this one does. Leadership at RQ will always be first to take cuts or work overtime to reduce the effect external forces have on others. It’s heartbreaking when it spills over but you’ll not find another team that is more willing to help. ... Read more

Rusty Quill is, by far, the most welcoming, most understanding and caring group of people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

As an American, the work culture of Rusty Quill is mind-blowing, because no one works quite like they do. In the U.S. we are so used to being taken advantage of, of giving our life to the company, of expecting people to work “for exposure”. RQ doesn’t want any part of that. This company sees you as a person, as an individual, as a g-d damn human being with thoughts and concerns and needs and feelings and worthy of respect and understanding.

I’ve been working with Rusty Quill in some capacity since 2018, and honestly, they’ve been some of most caring, decent, and talented colleagues I’ve ever had. I’ve been lucky enough to work directly with folks from all the departments, and I’m constantly impressed with everyone’s dedication.

As Head of Inclusion, I’m also really proud that whenever I’ve delivered workshops or shared resources, people have been eager to learn and engage with the topics - even the difficult ones.

From my perspective, this has been a difficult few months for a number of reasons, both internally and on an industry-wide scale, but through it all, I was supported wholeheartedly by management and fellow employees alike. Even when factors beyond RQ’s control have made for a more difficult work environment, the team and management have rallied together and looked after each other. This, in my experience, is true of the company culture in general. I have never worked at a company that so highly prioritises supporting its employees and their self-care, even in the face of hardship. ... Read more

I’ve been working for Rusty Quill since August 2019, over three years now.

Time and time again I’ve been blown away by how fortunate I am to be working with them. I love my colleagues both past and present; I’ve found nothing but support from everyone as I’ve navigated growing as an amateur audio editor, as a student, and as a person. I won’t claim that Rusty Quill is perfect — there have been hurdles and there have been mistakes. I’m sure there will be more in the future. But one thing I stand by is that everyone Rusty Quill is constantly striving for improvement and always willing to listen to any problems. RQ encourages growth and learning and support, and management reflects those qualities back at us.
