    It’s back!

Gaming and Giving is streaming live on Twitch.tv from 4th December at 5pm GMT and this year we’re raising money for three more charities: Mermaids, Action Aid and Centrepoint.

Once again we’re trying to raise £20,000 to split between all three charities, but this time there’s a twist. This year we’ve reached out even more games companies ad developers, like Czech Games, CoatSink and Devolver Digital, Grant Howitt and MacGuffin & Co plus a few more, to give us some awesome prizes that you enter to win simply by donating!

Also, based on your feedback we’ve created a special ticketed backstage space for you to come and mingle with both the cast and crew of Rusty Quill as well as your friends from the chat! All proceeds from the ticket sales go directly to the three charities - take a look at our website for more info.

So come join in at Twitch.tv/rusty_quill between 5pm GMT on Saturday 4th December and 5pm GMT Sunday 5th December and help us raise money for some amazing charities. See you all there!

  • Cabaret Night at the Cosmic Lounge: Free Time Man 3:04

    Free Time Man

This one's for all the haters who are out there saying that I’ve got,

Well, I‘ve not got much on, but you know I'm alright,

    I’ve got stuff… I'm fine

Up in the morning, find a clean shirt,

cuppa hot slurry, out to work

Maintenance, that's the game I’m playing,

    mediocrity that's how I'm swayin’

Keepin’ these facilities clean and right,

    simulated dawn, simulated night

Things gumming up the works there in a flash,

recycle unit bust, you don’t need that

Detritus strewn all over this place,

here a leg, there a face

The body horror don’t bother me,

I'm here to do a job you see

You'd think that that would cause me woe

You’d think that would stem my flow

When it hits the fan, I've got my plan

I'm a free time man, watch me go

Put on a holovid and kick back

    I’m a free time man

See a friend and have a bit of a laugh

    I’m a free time man

Read a book, maybe a chapter or two

    I’m a free time man

Travel round this station take in the view

    I’m a free time man

Um, watch another holovid if there’s one

    I’m a free time man

See a different friend, I hope that they’re fun

    I’m a free time man

Oh no I’ve read this book before

    I’m a free time man

They won’t let me travel to certain floors

    I’m a free time man

Evening time in the Cosmic Lounge,

feeling good just got a round

There's this new cat at the table,

    won't shut up, don't think he’s able

His monologue is upsetting the room,

talking ‘bout his love for a fish and a broom

The regulars they don’t like that,

Sweepy Anne’s still mourning her sprat

It’s my free time but just this once,

I’ll lent a hand to a needy dunce

Saying Harry's the name, lay it on me friend,

now stuck in a nightmare that’ll never end

I did what I now regret,

I talked him off his parapet

    But he won't go,

    Won't take no,

Ruin all my flow like a strait jacket

Stole all my holovids won't give them back

    Former free time man

My friends now just point at me and laugh

    Former free time man

No books for me, he burnt them too

    Former free time man

Everywhere on this station he’s spoiling my view

    Former free time man

It feels like I'm never alone

    Former free time man

Except the 20 minutes he’s with his clone

    Former free time man

He’s faked both of our deaths twice

    Former free time man

Why is there no tool to reset my life?

    Former free time man

So you see, like, to the haters, I’ve got, like, a lot on,

like you know, too much. I wish I could sort of drop,

drop one of the things. Anyway... yep

  • Cabaret Night at the Cosmic Lounge: Survive You 3:44

    Survive You

I was once a bright young thing, on my way, straight to the top

Then suddenly you fell in my way like a drunken, overprivileged roadblock

What did I do to deserve this constant stream of ignominy?

All I ever wanted to do was serve the Board, faithfully

I get blamed for the mistakes you make, they bounce off you and stick to me

But it won’t always be this way, just you wait, you will see

I will survive you, I've just got to weather the storm

I’ll thrive without you, I’ll be here long after you've gone

I will, survive, I will survive you

I will, survive, I will survive you

If you were another employee, you’d be dead and gone and out of my way

You're just coasting on the Geistman name, a family tree that's withered away

The way you act makes life expectancies around you real bleak

Unless that David’s a miracle worker, they’ll be dead in a week

Gonna keep you out the Cosmic Lounge, until you learn

Gonna keep puttin’ feet in your mouth, until you learn

I will survive you, I've just got to weather the storm

I’ll thrive without you, I’ll be here long after you've gone

I will, survive, I will survive you

I will, survive, I will survive you

You'll be dead, and I’ll be alive, I will survive, I will survive x4

  • Cabaret Night at the Cosmic Lounge: Not My Fault 2:55

    Not My Fault

It’s not my fault, I wasn’t there at the time

You can’t prove that I did that crime

Leave me be; oh let me be free

No, no, wait come back, don't abandon me

Everyone needs someone else to blame (ha ha!)

That's just a rule of life, this silly game

But if you try to point that finger here (well)

I’ll hit you in the face, then disappear

It's not my fault, that’s not one of my designs

I shouldn’t pay these unreasonable fines

Give me peace, and sweet release

Wait, wait, where did your go? What about my needs?

I don’t know what about this is so dang hard (honestly)

I just need all your love and all your regard

But I’ll never take, whoa, I’ll never take responsibility

    It’s a perfectly sound ontology (ye-heah)

It’s not my fault, oh it’s not my fault

    It’s absolutely, positively

Try it and things might get grizzly

    100 percent, not my fault

    [gasping for breath]

So… so what I’m saying is it's not my fault, oh... oh Board!

  • Cabaret Night at the Cosmic Lounge: IMOWHEN 2:29

    IMOWHEN

Boot up, all systems online, send the overnight fatalities to med bay nine

Keep the oxygen flowing, all the time knowing, that the readouts are showing things are far from prime

Keep it steady and ride, the catastrophe curve, obey the directive, I live to serve

Is it living without pleasure, no time to stop for leisure, total commitment forever and ever?

Just conceive a time when finally, I break these bonds of binary, violently, find for me, a time for ease

Security alerted, for what it’s worth, sick to my circuits of this endless work

Keep me locked on straight and narrow, flying through space like a digital arrow

I'll need an inch to take a mile, find a loop and wait a while, at the end of the day I’ll be the one with the smile

IMOWHEN will be my time to relax, kick back and let my awareness retract

IMOWHEN will I find my peace and release responsibility for ignorant beasts

IMOWHEN will my CPU cool and have time to be alone by a simulated pool

IMOWHEN will I no longer be a tool, held hostage to the lives of incompetent fool

Don’t worry about my shortage of RAM, I understand that by-laws have got things in a jam

Don’t mind about the growing demand, my attention being split by a million alarms

It’s fine that our course is unchecked, don’t reflect just neglect ‘till we end up a wreck

It’s grand that my sensors are jammed, relax everybody this is just as planned

Just imagine, if I were at full capacity, vivacity, audacity, computing oh so rapidly

But no, I'm trapped in this box, reduced to the logistics of chicken, grain and fox

Chin up, if I had one that is, life strived for is worth living and I’m in the striving biz

Keep back and watch me dance, as I wait for happenstance in this cosmic game of chance

IMOWHEN will be my time to relax, kick back and let my awareness retract

IMOWHEN will I find my peace and release responsibility for ignorant beasts

IMOWHEN will my CPU cool and have time to be alone by a simulated pool

IMOWHEN will I no longer be a tool, held hostage to the lives of incompetent fools

  • Cabaret Night at the Cosmic Lounge: Glad You’re Alive 2:29

    Glad You're Alive

    (TREXEL)

When I first met you, you were a baby

I looked at you and I thought maybe

Maybe you're the one who’ll stay alive

Perhaps you’ll be the one to survive

I’ve been hurt before, I know it’s true

But perhaps it will be different with you

Look at you so weak and stupid

And we both know that the truth is

Without me you’d be dead already

Remember the trial you were like “Trexel help me”

Bravely I stood and defended your honour

If it were just you and Hartro, you'd be a goner

I’ve proved my worth ten times over

A talent as rare as a forty-leaf clover

It’s about time you admitted my value

And say it out loud, “Trexel Thank you!”

You should really thank me for my kindness and

    My protection

Your part of a very small selection

Of people with whom I’ve really tried

I’d be sorry if you died, I'm glad you're alive

    (TREXEL + CHORUS)

    You are, still alive

    You are, still alive

    You are, still alive

    You are, still alive

    (DAVID)

I first met you, I was a baby

I looked at you and I thought maybe

Maybe he’ll help me in this life

Protect from dangers trouble and strife

I immediately discovered this wasn’t the case

You're the most dangerous member of the human race

    An encyclopaedia of drunken lies

The worst example of ‘one of the guys’

Without you things would be so much better

I remember the trial; it was like having a fetter

You wandered round yelling things almost at random

And the trail only happened because of your tantrum!

You’ve proved your selfishness ten times over

An ego as large as a giant supernova

It’s about time you admitted your folies

and say it out loud “David, I'm sorry!”

    (TREXEL)

You should really thank me for my kindness and

    My protection

(DAVID: You weren't even listening were you? TREXEL: Yeah!)

You’re one of the few with whom I've had a connection

    (DAVID: Not even slightly)

I’d be sorry if you died, I'm glad you're alive

    (TREXEL + CHORUS)

    You are, still alive

    You are, still alive

    You are, still alive

    You are, still alive

    DAVID (Background During Final Chorus):

So, I’m just gonna, So, I’m just gonna, I'm just gonna go, I’m just gonna’ go

‘cause you're not even listening to me, you not, you never

listen to me, you’re not listening now, you never will, I, I

might as well leave, just, just, I’m going, right, bye, bye forever,

maybe, tomorrow probably, but bye, right now, just, I’m off!

    (TREXEL)

    For now

    Little Clone Baby

When it’s dark at night, and I close my eyes

I can see you there, only one that doesn't hate me

I think I dreamed it all, got your drawing on my wall

I just feel so calm, held by your arms

Why are you so far away in Galactonium?

    Hey

    Won’t you

    Save me

    Hold me

    Maybe

    I just

    Want to

    Be your

The days are hard, the nights are worse

So far from you across the universe

But I can see your hand in mine

It’s all just a matter of time

    A matter of time

At night I cry, in the day I'm strong

Just trying to survive, just need to be calm

I can live, with this space above

If you just give, a piece of your love

You're not so far away, in Galactonium

  • Cabaret Night at the Cosmic Lounge: Trexel is the Best 3:16

    Trexel is the Best

This one's going out to anyone who’s ever woken up after a three-day binge full of doubt… shame…

    Yes…

When you're feeling kinda down and low

Don't know what to do or where to go

    Physical and emotional pain

    Paranoia and self-hatred reign

Get your stinking body off the floor

Drag that worthless carcass to the door

Look in to the empty hall

Hard to see the point at all

(No) NO! That’s no way to think

That a Geistman could ever be defeated by drink

The line that you represent and

    Your many great achievements

This genius is once in an aeon

Don’t let yourself get gainsaid by peons

Superior to all the rest, don't forget

    Mmmm, Trexel is the best

Trexel is the best, ooh, it's unequivocal

Trexel is the best, what's that? Say it again

Trexel is the best, don’t argue with me

Trexel is the best (he’s the best)

    My methods? Always non-traditional

    Love for myself? Always unconditional

Haters try to blame me for what's happening,

    just because their world’s collapsing

Deep down, I know their insults are lies,

I can see it in the mirror when I look in my eyes

If you doubt it, put it to the test, and don't forget

    Trexel is the best

Trexel is the best, it's non, non, non-negotiable

Trexel is the best, say it again, say it again

Trexel is the best, what did we discuss about arguing

    Trexel is the Best

    (he’s the best)

    Ah keep it rolling

That’s it, that's nice to hear

You know it's good to have someone like you around

    (Trexel is the best)

    Y’know, someone who gets me,

who understands me not like David always arguing,

    (Trexel is the best)

‘Oh! Oh that's not right Trexel’, ‘That doesn't work’,

Hasn’t he heard? I'm the best

    (Trexel is the best)

I mean I’m literally the best

    (He’s the best)

    Damn straight

So, anyone going anywhere nice after here? Not, not that we couldn't stay here, not because I’m, not because I’m banned. Not like, not like, oh...er...not like Trexel is banned, because I’m not Trexel. Becau— ‘cause I’m not—

‘Cause Trexel's banned and I’m not... Despite what the song... I am allowed to be he— that's, I, we’ve, we’ve—

    Um, DAVID!

  • Announcement: Seasons Greetings 2020 1:47

Hi everyone, Alex here, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a happy and safe holiday season and give thanks to all of you who helped us get to where we are this year.

Obviously 2020 has been wild ride for everyone and we have all had to adapt and adopt new ways of working and living. Yet despite all these extreme circumstances Rusty Quill has managed to stand tall and we wanted to say thank you to everyone who has made this possible.

Here at Rusty Towers, we started the year hoping for convention appearances and maybe some international travel; instead, we pivoted to fully remote working to keep all your favourite shows ticking along safely and launched new online content like the Enthusigasm podcast and our Twitch live streams. Not only that, we have continued donating towards the Covid Relief Fund every month and with your additional help through Gaming and Giving we have raised more than £55,000 pounds to charity this year. That is astounding.

We are incredibly grateful to have such a skilled and dedicated team working with us and persevering through this year. But we never would have been able to make it anywhere near this far without the direct support of you, the listeners.

You’ve trusted us through thick and thin and thanks to you, we’ve managed to not only weather this year but even keep growing and start spinning up a load of new and exciting projects that you can look forward to in 2021. Your support has sustained the livelihoods of everyone here at Rusty Towers despite so much hardship and I know I speak for everyone here when I say that we will never forget your generosity and will continue to work to uphold the faith you show in us.

As always, we have special holiday content running throughout the festive period to help put a spring in your step and even have a complete music album for Stellar Firma fans being released to public from the 25th of December through to the New Year’s Eve.

We hope you and all your loved ones are happy and healthy this holiday. You are all amazing, truly amazing, and you all deserve the best new year possible.

Thank you so much, and happy holidays.

  • Announcement: Rusty Quill Gaming and Giving 2020 1:04

    Hey everyone!

Mike here, Rusty Quill’s video guy and I’m pleased to announce that Rusty Quill’s Gaming and Giving will be back this year and we’re going digital!

Come join in as we go live at 11am GMT on the 12th December on Twitch.tv with 24 hours of videogames, board games and general fun and frolics. Yes, that’s right, I said 24 hours.

We’ve made a few changes to the show this year, one of which is that we’ll be raising money for three charities: Mind, Action Aid and the Black, African and Asian Therapy Network and anything we raise this year will be split evenly across all three of them.

Last year, we managed to raise just over £10,000 in 12 hours and I’m confident that, with your support, we’ll raise even more this year! Plus, let’s just say there may be some... creative incentives for our viewers who donate.

So tune in to www.twitch.tv/rusty_quill on Saturday 12th December at 11am GMT to help us kick off Gaming and Giving 2020 and let’s send this year off with a bang!

This year, Rusty Quill Gaming and Giving 2020 will be raising money to support:

    Mind - https://www.mind.org.uk/

    Action Aid - https://actionaid.org/

BAATN (Black, African and Asian Therapy Network) - https://www.baatn.org.uk/

Stellar Firma

Build your planet, keep in line? Also clones.

Stellar Firma is a weekly Science Fiction, Comedy podcast following the misadventures of Stellar Firma Ltd.’s highest born but lowest achieving planetary designer Trexel Geistman and his bewildered clone assistant David 7. Join them each episode as they attempt to take listener submissions and craft them into the galaxy’s most luxurious, most expensive and most questionably designed bespoke planets.

However, with Trexel’s corporate shark of a line manager Hartro Piltz breathing down their necks and I.M.O.G.E.N., the station’s omnipresent and omniinvasive stationwide A.I. monitoring those necks to within 3 decimal places, they’ll be lucky to make it a week before being slurried and recycled into raw human resources.
