VARUD RPG

VARÚÐ RPG is an anthology live play, actual play podcast - always horror, always set in an alternative version of Iceland. The is show produced by Blighthouse studios the team behind by the Actual play podcasts The Lucky Die and Sprouting.

Each series of VARÚÐ is a self-contained horror themed homebrew TTRPG story using various roleplaying games.

The first series of VARÚÐ is titled Dead Ísland! The series follows a family of survivors as they attempt to find safety, in a zombie apocalypse set on the south coast of Iceland. The trio of cousins must cross the country, on foot in the dead of winter in order to complete their dying Aunt’s mission. With them in a case they carry hope itself. The case contains important samples and data they must get it to a plan if someone is going to develop a cure: a slim chance, but a chance the family decides is worth taking.

The cousins will face the bleakest that humanity has to offer, an environment that unleashes apocalyptic storms and the darkness of their own failings – plus zombies intent on devouring them at every turn.

Dead Ísland is played using a heavily modified version of Chaosium’s Basic Roleplaying system this bespoke version features its own unique infection mechanic that heightens the tension as the players constantly fret over engaging their undead foes.
