The Pit Below Paradise is a darkly whimsical coming-of-age drama in a semi-apocalyptic future, from writer J. Evelyn Gaskell.

Dorian always knew where his life was heading: straight off a nearby cliff as a sacrifice for the cult he’s been raised in. Everything has led up to this event, including taking steps to dupe the authorities by making imagined plans to attend college. Of course, Dorian has no intention of ever leaving home… until his sacrifice is delayed.

With the date of his death now uncertain, Dorian must – briefly – live out a future he never expected and attend college. Unknowingly, he has started on a journey that will change his destiny forever.
